Default Final Quest Reward

So completing Hell's Precipice as it stands gives you nothing.
I believe that a sufficient reward should be made available to people completing this mission, and I also believe that if done correctly, the right reward could destroy the whole "farming for real cash" issue in one fell swoop.

Upon completing the mission, take the player to a screen much like the weapon selection stage of PvP character selection.
Then, allow the character to make the weapon of his or her choice from the top components available. And to prevent resale, customise this weapon to the specific character and make it non-salvageable.

Of course, only make weapons of the normal type available so that the "cool" UW & FoW items retain at least SOME appeal to those concerned more with looking good rather than having the most effective weapon for their build.
Also, allow the caharacter to do this multiple times so that if they want, they can get as many good weapons as they need for their character.

Interesting idea to make pve a bit funner. But this would make the last mission way to easy for new people. Organized Guilds would show up and just beat that last mission to no end.

As the OP said, it would be customized to you and unsalvagable, so the resale value would be 0. This would affect the economy much, because there are always people who are unsatisfied with just a single items such as this. It would only have item mods available, and there are mods that no items could give, so this wouldn't necessarily be the "best" weapon you character could get.

There might have to be some sort of limit to this for balance issues, but it's an interested idea.

I would say the reward mentioned would be at ascension, since that is when you are "ready to attempt earning favor in the hoh"
I think to add to this and make it not pointless as collector items = max, give the max upgrades as options as well so you can actually be as good as a pvp character. pve characters would finally be good enough for pvp without 200k for items and sup runes.

Interesting point, but you have to remember that most of the elite skills are captured after Ascension. Having a nice item would hardly help you win favor at the HoH... it's more about the skills.

Another reason for this is that I've recently started using one of my slots for a PvP character, and it's ridiculously easy for a PvP character to get exactly the weapon they want, whereas a PvE character can spend months farming and STILL not get what they want.
As such weapons obviously have no value in the PvP game, why on Earth should they be so hard to get in the PvE game?

You could even expand this and give people who complete the mission a rune of their choice too, as long as they have already unlocked prior runes in sequence.
I feel these measures would completely control the economy, and result in only the aesthetically pleasing equipment being of any value, something I'm sure that ANet were aiming for in the first place.

I don't think this would completely destroy the whole ebay phenomenon, but it would be a good start.
Why wouldn't it kill off ebay gold trading?
People will still want gold and materials for Granite Citadel or Fissure of Woe armours, and whilst people want something, there will be a real-world market for that item.

hard to get? it takes you not more than half an hour to farm the items needed by the collector.

only difference are the upgrades: PvP get all unlocked for free, but PvE can buy them and don't need to unlock.

Besides that, a armor +3 or armor +5 isn't a significant difference.

so PvE chars are ready for PvP.

Newsflash: Collector's Items are actually NOT as good as people think they are.
For example, the best axe you can get only gives +15% whilst enchanted.
Not every warrior runs enchantments, and most people prefer +15% while health is above 50%.
This flexibility is offered when creating a PvP weapon, but just isn't available to PvE characters.

Try again please.
